The millimetre-wave (mmW) linear polarisation property of a typical stereoscopic object is investigated theoretically. The mmW brightness temperatures (BTs) of the target at different linear polarisations are simulated using ray tracing. Based on the distribution characteristics of linear polarisation images, a linear polarisation fusion (LPF) method is presented to improve the BT contrast between the target area and the background area. The simulation results indicate that the LPF method is capable for achieving good image quality to improve the ability of recognising the target.
