To prevent the interference problem due to existing nearby communication systems within the UWB operating frequency, a compact dual-band-notched UWB antenna is presented. A novel modified complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR) is etched inside the inner patch to obtain a band-notched function. The proposed antenna occupies a compact area of 22×26 mm2. The measurement results show that the proposed antenna can guarantee a wide bandwidth from 2.9 to 12 GHz (VSWR<2) with dual unwanted band notches. The antenna demonstrates omnidirectional radiation patterns across almost the whole operating bandwidth, which is useful for UWB application.
