AB Thanks to the analysis of the trabecular texture of the bone through radiographic images one can can characterize its internal structure. This structure is composed of arches called trabeculae. The authors have some vertical trabeculae and horizontal trabeculae arranged in two groups corresponding to compression stresses and to tensile stresses. They obtain a textured image that has more or less constrast depending on the number of trabeculae compared to BMD (bone mineral density). This enables one to know the orderly loss of bone mass. In order to know the number of trabeculae the authors used a gray run length matrice algorithm.
