The importance of processes
Processes really are important. They are the 'what' that needs to be accomplished to successfully complete a job relating to the project, production or service effectively and efficiently. But then again, it may be thought that for detailing everything what you have to do is a simplistic and unnecessary exercise; it may also be considered unnatural and too matter-of-fact. If we were pessimistic, we might say, 'Any mature or sane person would know that this is the way this job should be done'. However, the most effective engineers, especially those in NASA, now know that ignoring a process is not always the wise choice! The six key processes are commonly known as the key engineering operational processes and fit well with the ELITE Leadership Model as the skills required for an effective leader.
