This appendix repeats some of the important mixing rules and other formulae. The geometry of the mixture is the following: in an environment with permittivity εe, inclusions (permittivity εi) occupy a volume fraction f. The homogenised effective permittivity is denoted by εeff.

Inspec keywords: permittivity; electrostatics; dielectric polarisation

Other keywords: homogenised effective permittivity; remote sensing; mixing rules; mixing formula; thermal microwave radiation
